Youth Against Poverty is a non-profit organization aimed at facilitating the youth to provide goods and services to serve the less fortunate.
Beginning its inception in 2009, Youth Against Poverty (YAP) originally served as a link to multiple NGOs that stakeholders can donate to. However, after its first international trip to Haiti in 2011, the organization expanded its work to initiating fundraisers and promoting outreach to the youth in local communities. After having 2 successful fundraisers, the YAP team was able to raise over $48,000, enough for our partner organization in Haiti (Global Family Philanthropy) to transport medical equipment and subsequently establish an ongoing medical clinic in Ouanaminte, Haiti.
Youth Against Poverty has also partnered with Compass Family Services in raising funds for the homeless in the San Francisco area. In 2013, YAP has collaborated a joint fundraiser with ShoebizSF in which we raised over $25,000 towards helping children who come from homeless, working families in San Francisco, as well as donating 123 pairs of shoes to these children.
For more information on the work we have done, visit our 'Press' and 'Blog' Page.
The YAP team is innovating new ways of successfully meeting the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, in which we are investing in agricultural development and education. (For more information on the SDG Goals, click here). We are now working on scaling up towards project consultation, development, and implementation in some of the most poverty-stricken regions in the world. This includes collaborating with multiple NGOs and non-profits by serving as catalysts to youth groups that strive to become agents of change for the world.
“Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life."
- Nelson Mandela
